Full Potential
It's a peculiar thing, potential. Few people pursue it, and even fewer still ever reach it, but everybody has it. Yes, all of us. When each of us is made in the beginning a small flame is lit inside us and throughout our lives we can either tend and fuel it, or allow it to be smothered by the wind. The greatest obstacle any of us face in this endeavour is apathy. Potential requires persistence and human beings are, by their very nature, defeatists and easily distracted. Fighting this is a constant battle but by no means an impossible one. Set a goal, a small goal at first, and reach it. The feeling of accomplishment you experience will inspire you to set another, then another, and another after that, until realising your ambitions becomes an addiction. Until your dreams aren't dreams at all but things left to do.
Invest in your potential. Take some time each day to focus on developing your skills and expanding your knowledge. Read a book. Wander and reflect. Practice your passion. These are all things that are often the first to be forgotten under the pressures of day to day living. But you are a human soul, a galaxy given form. You cannot resign yourself to a life devoted to the dreams and hopes of somebody else. You are being made to be expressed. The world needs what only you can offer it.
Distractions are important. The world is tough, the days are long, and sometimes you just need to get away, to stop thinking for a little while, but at the end of the day distractions are just escapes and you cannot live your whole life in retreat. Sometimes, you've got to stand against it. You've got to show the world what you are capable of, what you deserve, then go out there and take it.
